Process for the biosynthesis of xylitol

Abstract

The subject of the invention is a process for the production of xylitol from D-xylose by the action of the strain Candida parapsilosis ATCC28474, characterised in that it comprises the steps consisting in: 1. cultivating an inoculum of 2 to 5 x 10<6> cells/ml of C. parapsilosis ATCC28474, under aerobic conditions, at a temperature of 25 to 35 DEG C, for the time required for the consumption of the sugar, at a pH maintained in the range of 3.8 to 5.4, in a fermenter containing: either a synthetic medium comprising 30 to 100 g/l of D-xylose, 2 to 10 g/l of KH2PO4, 1 to 5 g/l of (NH4)2SO4, and 0.1 to 1 g/l of MgSO4, 7H2O, or a hydrolysate of plant raw materials comprising 50 to 80 g/l of D-xylose, in the presence of 0.5 to 3 g/l of yeast extract, under aeration and stirring conditions ensuring a supply of oxygen such that the bioconversion of the D-xylose to xylitol is brought about, without allowing the reuse of the xylitol by the yeast, and 2. isolating the xylitol from the culture medium. L'invention a pour objet un procédé de production du xylitol à partir de D-xylose par action de la souche de Candida parapsilosis ATCC28474, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend les étapes consistant à :</P><P>1. cultiver un inoculum de 2 à 5.10**6 cellules/-ml de C. parapsilosis ATCC28474, en aérobie, à une température de 25 à 35 degre(s)C, pendant le temps nécessaire à la consommation du sucre, à un pH maintenu dans la gamme de 3,8 à 5,4, dans un fermenteur contenant : soit un milieu synthétique comprenant 30 à 100 g/l de D-xylose, 2 à 10 g/l de KH2 PO4 , 1 à 5 g/l de (NH4 )2 SO4 , et 0,1 à 1 g/l de MgSO4 , 7H2 0, soit un hydrolysat de matières premières végétales comprenant 50 à 80 g/l de D-xylose, en présence de 0,5 à 3 g/l d'extrait de levure, dans des conditions d'aération et d'agitation assurant un apport en oxygène tel que la bioconversion du D-xylose en xylitol soit assurée, sans permettre la réutilisation du xylitol par la levure, et</P><P>2. isoler le xylitol à partir du milieu de culture.</P><P>Application à la biosynthèse industrielle du xylitol.
